Concord Education Center Named in Honor of Former Superintendent George Dyer

The Concord Community Schools Board of School Trustees has approved a resolution naming the Concord Education Center the George S. Dyer Education Center, honoring a longtime Concord educator and administrator whose 34 years of service helped shape the school corporation and community.

Mr. Dyer joined Concord Community Schools in 1977 as an assistant principal at Concord High School. During his more than three decades with the district, he went on to serve as Concord High School principal, assistant superintendent and, for 13 years, superintendent of Concord Community Schools.

Throughout his career, Mr. Dyer demonstrated a deep commitment to Concord students, staff and families. His impact extended beyond his administrative leadership through his support of the performing arts, his service as a high school athletics official and the countless relationships he built throughout the Concord community. 

“George Dyer dedicated much of his life to Concord Community Schools, and his influence can still be felt throughout our district today,” Superintendent Dr. Dan Funston said. “Following his recent passing, this recognition carries even greater meaning. Naming the Education Center in his honor is a lasting tribute to his leadership, service and commitment to generations of Concord students and staff.”

The building, located at 59040 Minuteman Way, will now be known as the George S. Dyer Education Center.
