No students injured as vehicle slides into school bus
Concord Community Schools administrators were made aware of an incident involving one of the district’s buses Thursday morning. No students were injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:24 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and C.R. 13. Concord Community Schools Police Department officers responded to the scene, followed by the Concord Township Fire Department.
According to officers, the bus was stopped in the eastbound lane of Sunnyside Avenue, waiting to turn north onto C.R. 13. The vehicle was attempting to turn right onto Sunnyside Avenue and slid into the front left corner of the bus.
The bus was transporting 43 East Side Elementary School students. Three students complained of discomfort and were evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel, but were found to be uninjured. Parents of the students have been notified. The bus driver was not injured.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of neck pain.
There was minor damage to the bus.
Students were transported by another bus and driver to the schools. State and district protocols for bus-related incidents were followed.
