CJHS student suspended following threat

At 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, Concord Community Schools Police Department officers and Concord Junior High School administrators responded to a report about a possible shooting threat.

A student reported to a teacher that another student was making threats about harming students and staff during a convocation scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27. The teacher immediately told building administrators and CCPSD officers about the threat.

CCSPD immediately began an investigation, including interviewing a handful of witnesses. During the investigation it was determined that the student did make the statement.

In accordance with district protocols, the student was suspended, pending an expulsion hearing. Charges have been filed with the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Concord Community Schools would like to thank the Concord Junior High School students and staff for being proactive and promptly reporting the incident. Safety protocols were followed throughout the incident.
