No students injured as vehicle strikes school bus
Bus was carrying West Side, Concord Intermediate students
Concord Community Schools administrators were made aware of an incident involving one of the district’s buses Wednesday morning. No students were injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the intersection of Prairie Street and Hively Avenue. Concord Community Schools Police Department officers, joined by emergency personnel, responded to the scene.
According to officers, the bus was eastbound on Hively Avenue, turning right onto Prairie Avenue. The vehicle was also eastbound on Hively, turning right onto Prairie Avenue and slid into the passenger side of the bus.
The bus was transporting 47 West Side Elementary School students and one Concord Intermediate School student.
Students were evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel, but were found to be uninjured. Parents of the students have been notified. The bus driver was not injured.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital.
There was minor damage to the bus.
Students were transported by another bus and driver to the schools. State and district protocols for bus-related incidents were followed.
